While the rise and fall of ska is indeed what anchors the narrative of the film, most of it is jumping from one related topic to another: musicians will talk about horn sections, then they'll talk about dancing, then they'll talk about politics in ska, and so on. Again, not that I expected them to devote an entire segment to the '80s, but I feel they could have spent just one minute mentioning how ska grew into a huge underground movement during the previous decade; The Untouchables were making cameos in multiple major motion pictures years before the MMB and RBF, it's hardly like ska was completely unknown before 'Clueless'.
