Originally called the Electric Theatre, the cinema has undergone a number of name changes since its opening, but returned as the Electric in October 1993. The architectural plans were designed by leading theatre architect of the time, Bertie Crewe (1860-1937) which are now a part of the Library of Birmingham's archives and collections.
There are two digital screens which show a mixture of the latest quality mainstream, independent, foreign and classic films. They do great cocktails!!
There is also really good filmbased artwork on the walls. , The Electric caters for fans of more arty, off-kilter entertainment. The distributors cancelled its worldwide release and put it back in the UK to November 12 because of coronavirus. Parasite deserved the Oscar, and the cinema is charming.
